Step 1-
-A bill is submitted and introduced by a congressman infront of a congressional meeting.
Step 2-
The bill is sent to the committee, where they can choose to pigeonhold it or have a conference. After this, the committee can choose to kill it, send it to the floor, or change the bill and send it to the floor.
Step 3-
The bill is sent to the floor, while at the floor, congressman will discuss it and decide to change the bill again. The both house and senate will have a discussion.
Step 4-
On this step the bill is voted on. The house and senate must vote, in order for a vote to take place a majority of all house and senate members must be there.
Step 5-
When the bill is in conference they will vote and can change things in the bill so more.
Step 6-
Vote on the bill again.
Step 7-
The president can sign the bill, pocket veto the bill, veto the bill, or wait ten days. If the bill is not signed by ten days it is then turned into a law.
Step 8-
This step only happens if the bill is vetoed. If vetoed it is sent back to the congress and they can override it with a 2/3 vote.
Step 9-
National Archives is the last step for the bill to become a law. This is where the bill will be written down into law and stored in the National Archives.
